A journey through time

Are you an antique hunter or relic enthusiast looking for the best finds during your vacation? Here are some clues that may lead you to some great treasures! Whether you're driving down Autoroute 20, roaming the Eastern Townships or Laurentians, or sticking to Montréal or Québec City, you’ll be sure to find a friendly dealer. Québec antique dealears are waiting for you!

Treasure hunting

Montréal is the place to be if you’re searching for relics and antique shops. Deal hunters are in for some great bargains, as the city features two districts tailored to a specific clientele. Fans of the ’50s and ’60s should head for the corner of Amherst and Ontario, where chrome, plastic and teak abound. You’ll be sure to find a lamp or piece of furniture similar to those used in films made over the past century. Meanwhile, Notre-Dame Street is a gold mine when heading west past Des Seigneurs Street, where you’ll suddenly spot the first antique shops that’ll take you back to the 19th century.

Québec City
The old capital also holds its own! In Québec City’s Lower Town district, at the foot of cap Diamant, the charming Saint-Paul Street features several boutiques where the spotlight shines on traditional furniture from across the province and beyond.

Set sail!
After breaking camp and leaving the urban hubs behind, a quick look at our treasure map shows two more regions to explore. First, antique furniture aficionados should drop anchor in Sainte-Euralie, in the Centre-du-Québec region, where over 15 merchants and artisans have set up shop near Autoroute 20, between Montréal and Québec City. Take the Antiques Roadways & Byways and Artisans Route to find unexpected treasures.

Staying in the metropolitan area? The Eastern Townships and Laurentians are just an hour’s drive from Montréal. Head for Lac-Brome (Knowlton), Eastman and North Hatley when venturing into the Eastern Townships. If your journey takes you north of Montréal, you’ll find a few antique dealers along Route 117 in the Laurentians, between Saint-Jérôme and Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. Nothing beats bringing a great bounty back home after a fun adventure!
