Built in 1825 to bypass the Lachine rapids, the Lachine canal extends over 14.5 km (9 mi.), between the Old Port and Lac Saint-Louis. More than a simple interior waterway, the canal is also an urban park. See downtown Montréal from a different angle, either on foot, by bike or by boat.
