Beauharnois Generating Station (Hydro-Québec)

Located 40 km (25 mi.) from Montréal, between lakes Saint-François and Saint-Louis, this generating station is one of the biggest power plants in the world! It harnesses the powerful waters of the St. Lawrence to drive 36 generating units that are spread out over nearly one kilometre (0.6 mi.). Built in three phases starting in 1929, the station has been classified as a national historic monument. During a guided tour, you'll discover its history, architecture and operation, as well as its role in the Hydro-Québec network.
