A spectacular flight on the horizon

In fall, they leave the Canadian Arctic, bound for the American East Coast. Together with their six- to eight-week-old goslings they make stopovers along shores of the St. Lawrence River for about two weeks, and enjoy taking the time to enjoy Québec’s hospitality. Their taste for tubers and roots is more than served along the river, but they also supplement their diet near neighbouring farmlands.

Who is this mystery bird? The snow geese!

Whether you’re an amateur ornithologist or simply a nature lover, the outdoors or agrotourism, come up close to the snow geese and take in nature at its best in Québec. The following offer good vantage points in various regions:

Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area (Québec)
Montmagny, Cap St-Ignace, Archipel de l’Isle-aux-Grues, Berthier-sur-Mer (Chaudière-Appalaches)
Parc du réservoir Beaudet, Victoriaville (Centre-du-Québec)
Parc de l’Étang de Burbank (Eastern Townships)
