In 1989, conductor Lorraine Vaillancourt founded the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Canada's first chamber orchestra dedicated to contemporary music. It has since acquired an international reputation. Faithful to its mission to raise awareness of XX and XXIst century music, the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne has added over 200 pieces to its repertoire and has created more than 185.
