What to do in November

In November, the shorter days are like a reminder to slow down. But not too much! This is the perfect time to check out exhibits, go to a film festival or discover a new restaurant. It’s the season to visit a craft fair or Christmas market to do your shopping for the holidays.

Family fests and more

November celebrations are full of light and music. They complement our holiday preparations and get us into the spirit of the season. There’s something for everyone, especially families. Two events, in particular, will be offering all-ages fun again this year: La forêt magique du père Noël (link in French only), in Mauricie and the Frima forest at the Woodooliparc in Chaudière-Appalaches. And we have to mention Montréal’s famous Santa Claus Parade on November 23. Note that this year, children’s favorite jolly old soul will be taking his sleigh along René-Lévesque Boulevard rather than Sainte-Catherine Street between Fort and Saint-Urbain.

Cultural shopping

The weather is perfect for a trip to the museum, movie theatre or even a restaurant you’ve never been to. Beyond the major exhibitions that are always in the spotlight, our cultural institutions boast impressive art collections worth getting to know.

You can also take in some culture by browsing the stalls at a craft fair or the artisan goods for sale at the Christmas markets held all over the province. Usually open from mid-November to the end of December, these are the perfect venues to appreciate the fine work of our local Quebeckers.

And let’s not forget the Salon du livre de Montréal (link in French only), on from November 20 to 25, or the Québec City National Women’s Show on November 9 and 10.

November peacefulness

Even though the trees are bare, our national parks are still the perfect place to get away and reconnect with nature. Bundle up and enjoy the late-autumn tranquility of the forest.

Lovers of winter will be flocking to the National ATV-Snowmobile Show to plan their rides on our snowy trails. The season is almost here!
