To combat winter’s icy climes, Québec has an ingenious antidote: take the party outside! Québecers are known for their festive attitude. The myriad festivals and shows are a sure-fire cure for any winter blues!

Crowd-drawing festivals

In Montréal

Igloofest is a hugely popular electronic music festival. From January 18 to February 3, 2018.

For its part, Montréal en lumière,  transforms the city with its light installations and foodie paradise, from February 22 to March 10, 2018.

In Québec City

You can’t miss the unequalled Québec Winter Carnival. Come say hi to Bonhomme Carnaval this January 26 to February 11, 2018.

Festivals for extreme-sport enthusiasts


Jamboree. The FIS World Cup snowboarding and freestyle skiing events, March 21 to 25, 2018, in Québec City.

La Traversée du lac Saint-Jean à vélo. This activity is for anyone wishing to do the crossing… by bike… in winter! February 15 to 17, 2018.

La Grande Traversée Isle-aux-Coudres. An 8-kilometre canoe trip to the mainland and back. February 16 to 18, 2018.

Festivals for the family


La Fêtes des neiges de Montréal is an open-air winter wonderland open January 20 to February 11, 2018, weekends only.

Festi Lumière at the Aquarium du Québec. Marine animals, tubing and inflatable games. December 26 to January 7 and March 2 to 10, 2018 every nights. January 12 to February 24, 2018, friday and saturday evenings.

Le Festi-volant Grandes-Piles,  is a fantastic opportunity to see enormous kites of every colour and size dance in the skies, from January 26 to 28, 2018.

Fête d’hiver de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. Featuring snow sculptures made by teams of professional sculptors from Québec and elsewhere, from February 8 to 11, 2018.

Festival Feu et Glace de Repentigny offers a flurry of family activities, celebrating fire and ice, from February 10 to 18, 2018.

Winterlude. A festival celebrating the joys of winter over three weekends, from February 2 to 19, 2018. Skate on the Rideau Canal, the longest skating rink in the world.

Festival Caribü - Saveurs d'hiver. A fun mix of innovative cocktails, Québec spirits and libations from microbreweries and cider houses throughout the province, set against a backdrop of electro-swing music. Don’t miss it: February 15 to 17, 2018, in Longueuil.
