Observing/meeting wolves

Meeting with wolves

With its extensive forest cover and numerous water bodies, Québec is a haven for some 650 animal species. From migrating birds to white-tailed deer, whales and caribous, you can see many of them in their natural habitat. Other native mammals such as wolves can be observed in theme parks, or observation and interpretation centres. And the rest of the activities that take you in close proximity with these mythic canines make for an unforgettable experience!

Québec is home to 7,000 wolves, the fourth largest population in Canada. Whether dreaded or admired, the wolf has become the star of the forest. Wolf calling activities have given us a better understanding of the animal, but there are today other ways to foster a privileged contact with canis lupus, the grey wolf. What would you say of spending the night in the middle of a wolf pack, observing them from your window and trying to decipher their howls? In certain cases, you can even enter the enclosure and touch them, under the expert eye of the owner, for a total communion with the untamed nature. Shivers are guaranteed!
